HEALTH>>
The Seventh-day Adventist lifestyle is a proven healthy and balanced approach to personal well being. More than 250 scientifically researched articles published in journals around the world consistently show Adventists usually live longer, have later onset of most cancers, heart disease and diabetes, and lower incidence of common lifestyle related diseases. Adventist lifestyle is biblically and scripturally based and more and more science is confirming that it is a better lifestyle.
The Adventist Health Department therefore wants to promote this lifestyle to its members as well as the community at large. Pacific Island countries whilst still struggling to address some of the infectious and communicable disease, is now challenged with non communicable disease (diabetes/obesity and hypertension) and global epidemics like HIV/AIDS and Avian Flu. Adventist Health Department has plans to address these health challenges in this Quinquennium.

The Church also operates Atoifi Adventist Hospital in East Kwaio, Malaita Province in the Solomon Islands. This 90 bed hospital established in 1965 provides care and comfort to the sick and needy people of the Eastern part of the Island as well as to patients from other parts of the country who go there looking for healing for their physical and spiritual needs. Atoifi Adventist Hospital despite the challenges that it has been through in the last 40 years continues to be a beacon for the Adventist medical missionary work on this important location in the Solomon Islands. As its motto states “For God & Humanity”, Atoifi will continue to be the launching pad for the church in reaching out into the community and addressing their physical, social and spiritual needs.
Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Kiribati Missions operate 26 clinics that provide curative, preventative and promotive health services in the Trans Pacific Union Mission. One of the goals in this Quinquennium is to strengthen these clinics so that they may excel in touching the sick & needy in their respective communities.
