The Seventh-day Adventist Church operates more than 5,800 schools worldwide with a total enrolment of more than 1 million students.

The aim of Adventist education is to create an educational environment that makes it more likely that each student will accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Friend.

Adventist education is built on the belief that each student is unique and of immeasurable value. It values the importance of systematic development of the whole person. Students are taught to accept the concept of service as a principle of life; to be sensitive to the needs of people; and to become contributing members in their home, church, and society.

We have an Adventist education program in all eight of the countries of the Trans Pacific Union Mission. The largest single Adventist education system is in the Solomon Islands with 11 high schools, two vocational schools and some 103 primary school with 456 teachers and approx. 12,000 students in all.

Vanuatu has seven schools that are officially called Mission schools. Two of these are high schools - one at Aore in the north and one in the capital, Vila, called Epautu. There are an extra 23 schools that are supported by their local Adventist communities and are called church schools. There are 43 teachers and some 600 students in the Mission school component of their education program.

The Seventh-day Adventist church in Fiji has two high schools: Navasau and Suva Adventist High Schools and some ten primary schools. There are about 93 teachers and over 1,750 students in the Fiji Adventist education system.

Kiribati has one high school called Kauma Adventist High School with around 235 students and 21 teachers. Tuvalu has one primary school with five teachers and 80 students. Tonga has four schools operating, with 800 students and 36 teachers. Samoa operates three schools with just over 650 students and 48 teachers altogether.

Thus across the Trans Pacific Union Mission there are some16,000 students and just over 700 teachers involved in the Adventist educational system.

The Education Department in the Trans Pacific Union Mission is well supported at our local Mission level with a person responsible for Adventist Education at each Mission. The Education Director and their contact details are listed below:
